南唐昇（字正倫。徐州人。世本微賤。父榮唐亂不知所終。有姊出家為尼。出入徐溫宅。與溫妻李氏同姓。昇身長七尺。為人溫。厚滅吳溥而立之。年改昇元。壽五十六。據江南金陵）雷氏曰（李唐金陵三主三九）。

Southern Tang: Sheng (courtesy name Zhenglun; a native of Xuzhou. His lineage was originally humble and lowly. In the Tang chaos, his father Rong met an unknown end. He had an elder sister who underwent pravrajyā as a nun and frequented the residence of Xu Wen, sharing the same surname with Wen's wife, Lady Li. Sheng was seven feet tall and mild and generous in nature. He destroyed Wu Pu and established himself, changing the era to Shengyuan. He lived to fifty-six, holding Jinling in Jiangnan). Master Lei says: "Li Tang in Jinling had three rulers for thirty-nine [years]."
