17.28

（己酉）　昭宗曄。懿第七子。為君俊頴有興復志。而外患已成內無賢佐。雖有智勇而不能為。年三十八為朱全忠等弑于御幄。葬和陵。在位十六年。改龍紀。

(Jiyou) [889] Emperor Zhaozong, named Ye, was the seventh son of Emperor Yizong. As a ruler he was bright and discerning, with the ambition to restore the dynasty; however, foreign threats had already formed and within there were no worthy ministers to assist him. Although he had wisdom and bravery, he was unable to accomplish anything. At the age of thirty-eight, he was assassinated in the imperial tent by Zhu Quanzhong and others, and was buried at Heling. He occupied the throne for sixteen years. The reign title was changed to Longji.
