閩審知（字信通。姓王氏。光州固始人。兄朝唐封福州觀察。既卒。知代征伐有功。昭宗進封瑯琊王。至梁祖加拜為知書令。封閩王。遂立福建。十八年。壽六十四）雷氏曰（王閩福建五主五五）。

Shenzhi of Min (courtesy name Xintong; family name Wang; a native of Gushi in Guangzhou. His elder brother Chao had been enfiefed by the Tang as Surveillance Commissioner of Fuzhou. After his death, Shenzhi took his place and achieved military merit; Emperor Zhaozong advanced his title to King of Langya. Under the Liang founder, he was concurrently appointed Secretarial Director and enfiefed as King of Min. He thereupon established himself in Fujian. He ruled for eighteen years and lived to be sixty-four.) Master Lei said, ("Wang of Min in Fujian: five rulers, fifty-five years.")
