18.35

（十三　丁亥）　益州青城香林院澄遠禪師示寂。師生西川漢州綿竹縣上官氏。法嗣雲門偃禪師。初住西川導江縣迎祥寺天王院。時謂水精宮僧問。美味醍醐因甚變成毒藥。曰導江紙。問見色便見心時如何。曰適來什麼處去來。問心鏡俱亡時如何。曰開眼坐睡。師復住香林。僧問。北斗裏藏身意旨如何。曰月似彎弓少雨多風。問如何是室內一燈。曰三人證龜成鱉。問如何是衲衣下事。曰臘月火燒山。問大眾雲集請師施設。曰三不待兩。問如何是學人時中事。曰恰恰如何是玄。曰今日來明日去。問如何是玄中玄。曰長連床上（餘如傳燈）。

(13. Dinghai [987 CE]) Chan Master Chengyuan of Xianglin Monastery in Qingcheng, Yizhou, manifested nirvāṇa. The master was born to the Shangguan clan of Mianzhu County, Hanzhou, Xichuan. He was a Dharma heir of Chan Master Yunmen Wenyan. Initially he resided at Tianwang Cloister of Yingxiang Temple in Daojiang County, Xichuan, which was known at the time as the Crystal Palace. A monk asked, 'Why does delicious ghee turn into poison?' He replied, 'Daojiang paper.' He asked, 'What is it like when, seeing form, one immediately sees mind?' He replied, 'Where have you just been?' He asked, 'What is it like when both mind and mirror are forgotten?' He replied, 'Sleeping sitting up with open eyes.' The master again resided at Xianglin. A monk asked, 'What is the intended meaning of hiding one's body within the Northern Dipper?' He replied, 'The moon is like a curved bow; little rain and much wind.' He asked, 'What is the single lamp within the chamber?' He replied, 'Three people confirming a tortoise to be a softshell turtle.' He asked, 'What is the matter under the patch-robe?' He replied, 'In the twelfth month, fire burns the mountain.' He asked, 'The great assembly has gathered like clouds; please, Master, make a demonstration.' He replied, 'Three does not wait for two.' He asked, 'What is the student's ongoing business?' He replied, 'Precisely so.' He asked, 'What is the mysterious?' He replied, 'Coming today, going tomorrow.' He asked, 'What is the mystery within the mystery?' He replied, 'On the long continuous platform.' (The rest is as in the Chuandeng lu.)
