帝問。民籍若干。府庫若干。奏云。不知。上曰。輔相治道固宜用心。此乃不理。而急於飡菜餕餡之僧人。其事乃止。

The Emperor asked: "How many are in the population registers? How much is in the treasuries?" They replied: "We do not know." The Sovereign said: "Those who assist in governing should certainly apply their minds to this. Yet leaving this unaddressed, you are in haste over monks who eat vegetables and consume dumplings!" The matter then ceased.
