22.62

帝問帝師云。僧中還有通古今事底麼。時有因和上。奏云。法自漢明帝至以火辯真偽。帝云。古今事且置。今再以火辯真偽時如何。因奏曰。我皇有護法之心。此經爭得焚燒。帝悅其言。

The Emperor asked the Imperial Preceptor: 'Is there anyone among the monks who understands ancient and modern matters?' At that time, Upādhyāya Yin was present, who memorialized: 'From the time of Emperor Ming of the Han, the Dharma arrived, and its authenticity was distinguished by fire.' The Emperor said: 'Set aside ancient and modern matters. If we were to distinguish authenticity by fire again now, what then?' Yin memorialized: 'Our Emperor has the mind to protect the Dharma; how could these scriptures be burned?' The Emperor was delighted by his words.
