（己丑）　○老氏遷太史令。時年三十四矣。一云。柱下史。自是五十四年不調。時人目為吏隱也。王十四年。魯襄元也。

(Jichou) Laozi was promoted to Grand Astrologer. He was thirty-four years old at the time. One account says: scribe beneath the pillar. From this point on, he received no transfer for fifty-four years; contemporaries regarded him as an official in reclusion. In the fourteenth year of the King, it was the first year of Duke Xiang of Lu.
