(20) Monk Shegong. Originally a man from Shu, his prophecies were mostly confirmed. He traveled preaching and arrived in Chang'an. At that time, there was a great drought; [Fu] Jian ordered the master to pray for rain. He chanted spells over a dragon inside a bowl, and the rain fell torrentially. Jian revered and served him with utmost reverence. The master did not eat the five grains and could walk five hundred li a day. In this year he showed his passing, and that year there was a drought again. Jian said to the Palace Attendant Zhu Tong, "If Shegong were still here, would he have let me be so anxious over the heavens?" Such was his longing and respect for him.
