The Daoist Scripture of the Three Sovereigns consisted of fourteen sheets of paper composed by Bao Jing. He stated: 'Any feudal lord who possesses this text is certain to become king of a state; any grand master who possesses this text will become a parent to the people; any commoner who possesses this text will see wealth amass on its own; and any woman who possesses this text is certain to become an empress.' Because this violated imperial taboos, he was executed in the Yongkang era; this is recorded in the Jin History. Later people altered its name to the Three Caverns. In the twentieth year of the Zhenguan era under the Tang, Wang, the wife of Liu Shao, a prisoner in Ji Prefecture, possessed the Chart of the True Immortals of the Five Marchmounts and the Scripture of the Three Sovereigns composed by Bao Jing. At that time, Ji Bian, the adjutant of the judicial section of Ji Prefecture, found them in Wang's possession during an inspection of prisoners and reported it to the Department of State Affairs. An imperial decree ordered Ji Huaiye, a bureau director in the Ministry of Justice, and others to summon the capital Daoists Zhang Huiyuan, Cheng Wuying, and others for interrogation. They determined that these had been forged as ink-written texts by the former Daoist Bao Jing, and were not composed by the contemporary Yuan and his circle. An imperial decree ordered them destroyed and removed, and all Daoists and commoners who possessed these texts were summoned. In the winter of that year, all were assembled and procured, and they were then thoroughly burned in front of the court of the Ministry of Rites.
