前趙劉淵（字元海。新興匈奴人。冐頓之後。初漢祖以宗女為公主。妻冐頓。約為兄弟。故子孫冐姓劉氏。都平陽六年改光熙）。

Former Zhao: Liu Yuan. (His courtesy name was Yuanhai. He was a Xiongnu native of Xinxing, and a descendant of Modu. Formerly, the Founding Emperor of the Han gave a woman of the imperial clan as a princess in marriage to Modu and entered into a brotherhood pact with him; thus, his descendants adopted the surname Liu. He established his capital at Pingyang, and in the sixth year changed the era name to Guangxi.)
