(15) Tripiṭaka Dharma Master Li was named Huili, a man of Western India. At the beginning of the Xianhe era of the Eastern Jin, he traveled to this land. Arriving in Hangzhou, he saw the mountain crags looking wondrous and lovely, and remarked: 'A small peak of Mount Gṛdhrakūṭa in Central India of my country—I wonder what year it flew here? When the Buddha was in the world, it was often where immortals and spirits secluded themselves; is it now like that here too?' Formerly there was a white ape in the cave; he thereupon called to it, and it came forth in response to his voice. Only then did people believe him; Feilai (The Peak that Flew) derived its name from this. The master promptly founded two monasteries on this land: first Lingjiu and then Lingyin. He constantly sat in serene meditation within the rock cave, which was called Master Li's Grotto. His burial stūpa is there today.
