(Twenty-second year) Tao Qian, styled Yuanliang, named Tao Yuanming, served as Magistrate of Pengze. Relinquishing his seal of office, he went to live in Chaisang, close to Mount Lu. From time to time, he visited Master Huiyuan. Huiyuan, admiring his uninhibited and open nature, invited him to join the White Lotus Society. Tao was fond of wine by nature and said that if permitted to drink, he would come. Huiyuan granted it. Tao entered the mountain, but after staying for a while, he knit his brows and left because there was no wine.
