(28) In the final years of Emperor Wencheng of the Wei, the King of Kashgar sent an envoy offering a Buddha kāṣāya, over two zhang long. The emperor carefully considered whether this was truly the Buddha's robe and whether it possessed spiritual anomalies; he placed it in a roaring fire, where it did not burn after an entire day. Thereupon, astonished, he was solemn in mind and form, truly believing (derived from the History of the Northern Dynasties).
