(10) In this year, Northern Wei [Daowu] assumed the imperial throne and changed the era name to Tianxing. Daowu issued an edict saying: 'The rising of the Buddha-Dharma has indeed been from of old. The merit of its aid and benefit invisibly reaches both the living and the dead. Its divine traces and bequeathed Dharma may truly be relied upon.' He ordered the officials to erect and adorn statues and repair and furnish palace quarters in the capital, so that those with faith and devotion would have a proper place to dwell. In that year, two stupa halls were built, named Gṛdhrakūṭa and Sumeru, and meditation halls and Dharma seats were constructed separately, all fully and solemnly equipped.
