(15) Dharma Master Sengrui was renowned from his youth. When he studied under Kumārajīva, his wondrous comprehension was peerless. The king of Qin once asked Minister over the Masses Yao Song: 'To whom can Master Rui be compared?' Song replied: 'I have not yet seen his match.' When court convened and the high officials gathered in great numbers, Rui's bearing was radiant and clear. The ruler pointed to him and said to Song: 'He is the monk of greatest renown within the four seas.' When Rui lectured on the Tattvasiddhi-śāstra (*Chéngshí lùn*), Master [Kumāra]jīva said: 'In this polemical treatise, there are seven places that refute the Abhidharma; can you resolve them?' Rui answered the questions one by one, all meeting his approval. [Kumāra]jīva sighed: 'You truly possess penetrating discernment. My translations have found a connoisseur; what regret can I have?'
