太丁子。殷益衰。在位四十七年。帝乙之妾有子。長曰微子啟。次曰中衍。季曰受德紂也。母為后。紂尚幼。帝乙及后欲立啟為太子。太史據法爭之曰。有妻之子不可立妾之子。乃立紂。

Son of Tai Ding. The Yin declined further. He reigned for forty-seven years. Di Yi had sons by a concubine; the eldest was called Weizi Qi, the second was called Zhongyan, and the youngest was called Shoude, who was Zhou. His mother became the queen when Zhou was still young. Di Yi and the queen wished to establish Qi as the crown prince, but the Grand Astrologer contested it according to the law, saying: 'When there is a son of the legal wife, one cannot establish a son of a concubine.' Thereupon they established Zhou.
