Lang, son of King Xi, reigned for twenty-five years. Formerly, King Zhuang loved his younger son Zitui and wished to establish him as crown prince, but could not. In the autumn of the second year of King Hui, Bian Bo and four other grand masters bore resentment against King Hui, and summoned Yan and Wei to attack Zhou. The King fled to Wen and took up residence in Zheng. Yan, Wei, and the grand masters set up Tui as king. In the fourth year, the Earl of Zheng and the Duke of Guo led troops to attack the Royal City, killed Zitui and the five grand masters, and escorted King Hui back to Zhou. In the twenty-fourth year, King Hui passed away. King Xiang did not dare to announce the mourning, fearing Shudai, and reported the distress to Qi. In the twenty-fifth year, the feudal lords deliberated over the royal house, and only after things were settled did they announce the mourning (Records of the Grand Historian).
