Zuan, the great-great-grandson of Emperor Zhang. Earlier, when Emperor Chong passed away, Empress Dowager Liang summoned Suan, King of Qinghe, and Zuan, the son of King Xiao Hong of Bohai, both to the capital. The King of Qinghe was in his twenties, solemn and severe in character, with disciplined conduct; Grand Commandant Li Gu wished to enthrone him, but General-in-Chief Liang Ji refused to comply. Plotting with the Empress Dowager, he dismissed Suan and sent him back to his principality, and enthroned the Emperor, who was eight years old. The Emperor was intelligent; looking at Liang Ji, he said: "This is the overbearing general!" Ji detested him for this. In the sixth month of summer, Ji had his attendants put poison in boiled cakes and serve them to him. The Emperor suffered extreme distress and passed away. He reigned for one year and lived to nine. Reign era: Benchu (1).
