劉姓。備名。字玄德。漢中山靖王勝之後。都成都（四川西道）。魏文帝黃初二年。備即皇帝位於成都西武擔之南。建元章武。在位三年。壽六十三。後主在位四十年。二主合四十二年。

Surname Liu. Given name Bei, courtesy name Xuande. A descendant of King Jing of Zhongshan, Sheng, of the Han dynasty. Capital at Chengdu (Sichuan West Circuit). In the second year of the Huangchu reign era of Emperor Wen of Wei, Bei ascended the throne as Emperor south of Mount Wudan, west of Chengdu, establishing the reign era Zhangwu. He was on the throne for three years and lived to sixty-three. The Later Sovereign was on the throne for forty years. The two sovereigns reigned for a total of forty-two years.
