Wei: In the first month of the first year of Jingchu, Shanchi (pronounced *shizhi*, also read *zi*) county reported the appearance of a yellow dragon. Gaotang Long believed that because Wei possessed the virtue of Earth, the auspicious sign of a yellow dragon had appeared, and that it was fitting to reform the calendar and change the color of vestments so as to illumine its governance and transform the eyes and ears of the people. The Emperor followed his counsel. In the third month, an edict was issued changing the reign era; that month was designated as the fourth month, the first month of summer. The color of vestments was to favor yellow, and sacrificial animals were to be white, conforming to the Earth standard. The Taihe calendar was renamed the Jingchu calendar. In the third year, the month of Yin was restored as the first month of the year.
