齊以竟陵王子良為護國將軍兼司徒。領兵置佐鎮西州。子良清尚傾意賓客才俊之士。篤重佛氏。每招致僧侶講論佛法。尊法之盛。江左未之有也。親為眾僧賦食行水（齊書方志）。

The Qi appointed Ziliang, Prince of Jingling, as General Protecting the State concurrently holding the office of Minister of Education, leading troops and setting up subordinate officers to garrison the western region. Ziliang was pure and noble, wholeheartedly favoring guests and talented, brilliant scholars. He was devout in revering the Buddhist teachings, repeatedly inviting the assembly of monks to lecture and discourse on the Buddha Dharma. The flourishing of the reverence for the Dharma was something never seen before in Jiangzuo. He personally distributed food and offered water to the assembly of monks (Book of Qi and Fangzhi).
