The Prince of Yulin of Qi was the Imperial Grandson. His personal name was Zhaoye; he was the eldest son of Crown Prince Wenhui. In the seventh month of the guiyou year, he was installed. In the first month of the jiaxu year, the reign era was changed to Longchang. He did not attend to governmental affairs, becoming wildly unrestrained. Luan, Marquis of Xichang, remonstrated with him without success; the Prince then wished to execute Luan. In the seventh month, Luan led troops into the Yunlong Gate and assassinated the emperor in the western lane. Acting under an order of the Empress Dowager, he was posthumously demoted to Prince of Yulin, and the second son of Wenhui, Zhaowen, Prince of Xin'an, was welcomed to ascend the imperial throne; he was fifteen years of age at the time. The reign era was changed to Yanxing. Luan was enfeoffed as Duke of Xuanxing Commandery, and advanced to Grand Tutor and Prince of Xuanxing. In the tenth month, the Empress Dowager issued an order: "Grand Tutor, Prince of Xuanxing, should enter to succeed the precious Mandate; the Emperor may be demoted and enfeoffed as Prince of Hailing." In the eleventh month, Hailing died.
