諱隆基。睿宗第三子。初封楚王。改封臨淄王。景雲初立為皇太子。先天元年八月即位。在位四十三年。壽七十八。尊睿宗為太上皇　開元（二十九）天寶（十四）。

Personal name Longji. The third son of Ruizong. Initially enfeoffed as Prince of Chu, he was re-enfeoffed as Prince of Linzi. At the beginning of Jingyun, he was appointed Crown Prince. He ascended the throne in the eighth month of the first year of Xiantian. He reigned for forty-three years and lived to the age of seventy-eight. He honored Ruizong as the Supreme Retired Emperor. Reign eras: Kaiyuan (twenty-nine years), Tianbao (fourteen years).
