戊午大曆十三年。詔兩京律師詳定新舊律條。開列持犯。頒行天下。時禪化大行。江西主大寂馬祖也。湖南主石頭憧憧湊二大士之門。

In the wu-wu year, the thirteenth year of Dali, an edict was issued to Vinaya masters of the two capitals to examine and settle the old and new Vinaya articles, list the precepts to be upheld and transgressed, and promulgate them throughout the realm. At that time the Chan transformation was broadly practiced: in Jiangxi, Great Master Mazu presided; in Hunan, Shitou presided; crowds thronged to the gates of these two great beings.
