丙寅會昌六年。帝餌方士金丹疽發背。旬日不能言。三月崩。宣宗即位。夏四月辛未朔宣宗始聽政。

In the bingyin year, the sixth year of Huichang (846), the Emperor took the elixir of the alchemists, and a malignant carbuncle broke out on his back. For ten days he could not speak. In the third month he passed away. Xuanzong ascended the throne. In summer, the fourth month, on the first day of the month, xinwei, Xuanzong began to attend to government affairs.
