In the eleventh month, the Emperor was indisposed. An edict established his third son, Conghou, the Prince of Song. Soon afterwards, the Emperor passed away. In the twelfth month, Conghou, the Prince of Song, ascended the imperial throne; this was Emperor Min. In the first month of the jiawu year, he changed the reign era to Yingshun. At that time, Congke, the Prince of Lu, who was military commissioner of Fengxiang and simultaneously serving as palace attendant, fell into discord with the court. In the third month, the Prince of Lu raised the banners and drums of a commander-in-chief, marshaled his forces, and marched east. When Emperor Min heard that the Prince of Lu had arrived in Shan, he was filled with anxiety and panic, not knowing what to do. With fifty horsemen, he went out through the Xuanwu Gate to Weizhou to rely on Wang Hongzhi, the prefect. When the Prince of Lu reached Jiang Bridge, Feng Dao and others all submitted memorials urging his accession. The Lord of Lu entered to pay respects to the Empress Dowager and the Imperial Consort and proceeded to the Western Palace. He bowed before the imperial bier and wept bitterly. The Empress Dowager issued an edict deposing the Young Emperor as Prince of E, and ordered the Prince of Lu to ascend the imperial throne before the coffin. Wang Hongzhi relocated Emperor Min to the prefectural offices. The Prince of Lu sent Hongzhi's son, Luan, palace attendant-in-waiting, to poison him. Emperor Min knew it was poison and refused to drink it; Luan strangled him to death.
