The histories call him Emperor Chu, taboo name Chonggui, the son of Emperor Gaozu's elder brother Jingru. He was enfeoffed as King of Qi. The five sons of Emperor Gaozu had all died young, and Chongrui was still a child. In the sixth month of the seventh year of Tianfu, Emperor Gaozu passed away. In the seventh month, the Acting Minister of Education concurrently Secretariat Director Feng Dao consulted with Jing Yanguang, Military Commissioner of Tianping and Commissioner of the Palace Guard Cavalry and Infantry: "The state faces many perils; an older sovereign ought to be enthroned." They thereupon supported the Governor of Guangjin, King Chonggui of Qi, as heir, and he acceded to the imperial throne. The ministers deliberated submitting a memorial declaring him a subject to announce the bereavement to Liao. Jing Yanguang requested to send a letter calling him "grandson" but not "subject." Li Song remonstrated against this, but was not heeded; Feng Dao wavered between the two. The emperor ultimately followed Yanguang's proposal. The Liao sovereign was enraged and sent envoys to reprimand him; Yanguang answered insolently. In the bingwu year, the third year of Kaiyun (in the eleventh month), Liao launched a massive campaign and destroyed Jin. The Liao sovereign ordered Zhang Yanze to relocate the King of Qi to Kaifeng Prefecture without a moment's delay. The emperor reigned for four years and was relocated far away to the land of Liao; his lifespan is not recorded. Tianfu eight was followed by Kaiyun (three [years]).
