九世同居　麟德二年十月。車駕幸東都（洛陽也）。祀昊天上帝於泰山。十一月至籌張。幸張公藝宅。公蓻九世同居。北齊隋唐皆旌表其門。帝問所以共居之故。公蓻書忍字百餘以進。帝善之乃賜以縑帛（唐書）。壽張隷大原。今冀寧路也。

Nine Generations Living Together: In the tenth month of the second year of Linde, the imperial retinue visited the Eastern Capital (which is Luoyang) and offered sacrifice to the Sovereign on High of the August Heavens at Mount Tai. In the eleventh month, they arrived at Shouzhang and visited the residence of Zhang Gongyi. Gongyi's family had nine generations living together, and Northern Qi, Sui, and Tang had all bestowed honors upon their gate. The emperor asked for the reason why they could live together, and Gongyi wrote over a hundred instances of the character 'forbearance' (ren) to present to him. The emperor approved of it and bestowed silk upon him (from the Book of Tang). Shouzhang was subordinate to Taiyuan, which is now Jining Route.
