甲戌上元元年。帝稱天皇。后稱天后。秋八月勅文武官。三品以上服紫金玉帶。四品服深緋金帶。五品服淺緋金帶。六品服深綠。七品服淺綠並銀帶。八品服深青。九品服淺青並䃋石帶。庶人服黃銅鐵帶。自非庶人不聽服黃（唐者車服志）。

Jiaxu, the first year of Shangyuan. The Emperor took the title Heavenly Emperor, and the Empress took the title Heavenly Empress. In autumn, in the eighth month, an imperial decree ordered civil and military officials of the third rank and above to wear purple with gold and jade belts; fourth-rank officials to wear deep crimson with gold belts; fifth-rank officials to wear light crimson with gold belts; sixth-rank officials to wear deep green; seventh-rank officials to wear light green, both with silver belts; eighth-rank officials to wear deep blue; ninth-rank officials to wear light blue, both with mineral belts; and commoners to wear yellow with brass or iron belts. Anyone who was not a commoner was not permitted to wear yellow (from the Tang *Monograph on Carriages and Robes*).
