Dharma Master Renyue of Jingjue in Huzhou composed the Ten Fascicles of Collected Explanations of the Śūraṅgama-sūtra, the One Fascicle of Explaining the Title, and the Five Fascicles of Record of Pervading Smells. Hu Su, Academician Reader-in-Waiting of the Hanlin Academy and Drafter of Edicts, wrote a preface for it, saying: “A thousand lamps in a room, their manifold lights mutually entering; the six musics beneath the hall, their correct sounds harmoniously resounding. Proclaiming the wondrous sutra, adorning the perfect teaching—how could this gift of Dharma be ordinary?” The Master entered tranquility on the twenty-fourth day of the third month of the first year of Zhiping under Emperor Yingzong. His whole body was buried at Mount He (Ben zhuan).
