Eminent Song monk, the Venerable Jiyin: Chan Master Qingliang of Ruizhou in Jiangxi, named Huihong (also named Dehong). He was a son of the Peng family of that commandery. At the age of fourteen, he lost both parents and went to live with Chan Master Sanfeng Qing. He daily memorized several thousand words, reading almost all the various books to completion; Qing recognized his great capacity. At nineteen, he was tested on the scriptures at Tianwang Monastery in the Eastern Capital and received ordination. He studied the Chengwei lun and Vijñaptimātratā treatises under Xuanmi; after four years, he departed. He paid homage to Chan Master Zhenjing Wen at Guizong on Mount Lu. When Wen moved to Shimen, the Master accompanied him and was ordered to take charge of the secretariat; before long, he left. Zhu Gongyan, Auxiliary Academician of the Hall of Manifest Models, became prefect of Fuzhou and invited him to inaugurate the Dharma at Jingde in the north of the prefecture. Later he resided at Qingliang in Jiangning Prefecture. When Chan Master Dahui Gao was living among the assembly, he personally attached himself to the Master, admiring and praising his wondrous awakening and eloquent wisdom. On the xinyou day of the fifth month in the second year of Jianyan under Gaozong, he entered quiescence in Tong'an at the worldly age of fifty-eight, with thirty-nine summer retreats as a monk. Grand Commandant Lord Guo Tianmin petitioned to have him bestowed the title 'Precious Awakening and Perfect Brightness' (Baojue Yuanming). The Master was the dharma heir of Chan Master Zhenjing Wen. He authored the thirty-fascicle Chanlin sengbao zhuan (Chronicle of the Sangha Treasures in the Chan Forest) and the Linjian lu (Records from the Groves), as well as a literary collection titled Shimen wenzi chan (Shimen's Literary Chan), which circulate throughout the world (Pudeng lu).
