In the Song, Empress Dowager Xianren, Lady Wei, returned from the north in the twelfth year of Shaoxing (Dongdu shilüe). Down to this twenty-first year, Xinwei, in the tenth month, a new monastery was completed at Mount Gaoting in Hangzhou, with the plaque reading "Chongxian Xianxiao." An imperial edict summoned Chan Master Zhenxie Qingliao, of the ninth generation under Dongshan, to be the founding abbot. He was summoned for an audience, which pleased the imperial will, and was bestowed a gold-woven cassock. Not long after, he passed into silence. His whole body was buried at the monastery, where a stele still stands. Zhenxie was born into the Yong family of Mianzhou in Shu; he was a Dharma heir of Danxia Chun, and Chun was a Dharma heir of Chan Master Furong Kai. The Empress Dowager considered that the Four Sages of the Daoists had given exceptional, unseen aid, and so changed Gushan Monastery into Yanxiang Abbey to maintain incense and fire offerings to them. The whole body of the Venerable of Gushan, Dharma Master Fahui Zhiyuan, was moved and buried on Agate Slope on the mountain (Wulin tuji).
