The śramaṇa Faguo was revered by Taizong of Wei. He successively offered him the titles of Child-Lord of Yicheng Who Assists the State and Marquis of Loyalty and Trust, styling him Controller of Monks (Sengtong). Guo firmly declined and would not accept them. Taizong visited his residence, and because its gate and alley were cramped and small, he enlarged them. In this year, the jiwei year, he entered nirvāṇa at the age of eighty-three. Taizong visited his mourning three times and posthumously conferred upon him the titles of General of Old Age and Longevity and Duke Ling of Zhaohu. (Biographies of Monks in the Book of Wei)
