In the jiyou year, the third year of Jinglong, Vinaya Master Da'an was summoned into the palace to administer the refuges and precepts to the imperial consorts and princesses. An image of the precept platform was painted in Linguang Palace, and an imperial encomium was composed, reading: 'The precept pearl is gleaming and pure, / The stream of wisdom is limpid and clear. / His body is disciplined by the sacred scriptures, / His mind merges into meditative absorption. / In study he masters the true tradition, / In contemplation he penetrates the real nature. / Upholding affairs of the Dharma, / Bringing order through virtuous governance. / May the Vinaya Piṭaka transmit its fragrance through him, / And the Semblance Teaching thereby flourish in brightness.' In the fifth year of Kaiyuan under Xuanzong, the Master entered extinction.
