Qingyuan. Chan Master Xingsi of Jingju Monastery on Mount Qingyuan in Jizhou was a son of the Liu family of Ancheng in that prefecture. Having left home at an early age, he attained the Dharma under the Sixth Patriarch and returned to reside at Qingyuan. Reaching this point, on the thirteenth day of the twelfth month of the twenty-eighth year of Kaiyuan, he ascended the hall, addressed the assembly, sat cross-legged, and passed away. Emperor Xizong bestowed the posthumous title Chan Master Hongji, and his stūpa was named Guizhen. He was a dharma heir of the Venerable Sixth Patriarch.
