海雲大宗師簡公。性與道合。心與法宜。細無不入。大無不包。住臨濟院。能係祖傳以正道統佛法。蓋至此而中興焉。又云。

Grand Master Haiyun, the Venerable Jian: His nature was in harmony with the Dao; his mind was suited to the Dharma. In minuteness, there was nothing he did not enter; in greatness, there was nothing he did not contain. Residing at the Linji Cloister, he was able to connect the ancestral transmission, rectify the lineage of the Way, and restore the Buddha's Dharma; it was here that it underwent a revival.
