自太祖成吉思皇帝。於宋寧宗開禧二年丙寅歲。法天啟運。稱聖武年號。建大蒙古國號。都和林云上都。至理宗紹定二年己丑。太宗嗣位。至淳祐六年丙午定宗嗣位。至淳祐十一年辛亥。憲宗嗣位。至開慶元年己未。慶宗嗣位。至景定元年庚申歲。世祖登基稱中統。至甲子改元至元。歷六世五十九年。今從世祖甲子元年敘起。

From Emperor Taizu, Genghis, in the second year of Kaixi of Emperor Ningzong of Song, bingyin, when he modelled himself on Heaven and opened the dynastic fortune, adopted the reign title Shengwu, founded the Great Mongol State, and made Helin the capital, known as Shangdu; down to the second year of Shaoding of Emperor Lizong, jichou, when Taizong succeeded to the throne; down to the sixth year of Chunyou, bingwu, when Dingzong succeeded to the throne; down to the eleventh year of Chunyou, xinhai, when Xianzong succeeded to the throne; down to the first year of Kaiqing, jiwei, when Qingzong succeeded to the throne; down to the first year of Jingding, gengshen, when Shizu ascended the throne and established the Zhongtong era, down to jiazi when he changed the era to Zhiyuan: this spans six generations and fifty-nine years. The narrative now begins from the first year of Shizu, jiazi.
