名也孫鐵水兒。顯宗之長子。裕宗之嫡孫也。初封嗣晉王。及英宗遇弑。以支庶入繼帝統。在位五年殂於上都　帝在位災異迭見。然守成法以行天下無事。稱治平焉。改元者二。泰定致和　帝曰。凡事防之於小則易。救之於大則難。明告於眾。俾知所慎。

His personal name was Yesün Temür, the eldest son of Xianzong and the legitimate grandson of Yuzong. He was initially enfeoffed as the successor Prince of Jin. When Yingzong was assassinated, he succeeded to the imperial throne as a collateral branch. He was on the throne for five years and passed away at Shangdu. During the Emperor's reign, calamitous portents appeared repeatedly; nevertheless, he abided by established laws to govern, so the realm was free of incident, and his reign was praised as orderly and peaceful. He changed the reign era twice: to Taiding and Zhihe. The Emperor said: "In all matters, preventing them while they are small is easy, but rectifying them when they become great is difficult. Inform the multitude clearly so that they know what to be cautious of."
