辛未洪武二十四年。定生員巾服之制。襴衫用藍色。絹布為之。寬袖皂線縧。軟巾垂帶。由是士子衣冠。綽有古風焉。

In the xinwei year, the twenty-fourth year of Hongwu [1391], the regulations for the caps and robes of government students were established: the round-collared gown was to use blue color and be made of silk-cloth, with wide sleeves and black cord belts, and a soft cap with hanging ribbons. From this, the attire and caps of scholars possessed an ample classical elegance.
