2.88

一在京設置僧錄司道錄司。掌管天下僧道。精選通經典戒行端潔者銓之。其在外布政府州縣。各設僧綱僧正僧會道紀等。司衙門分掌其事。

First: In the capital, the Central Buddhist Registry and Central Daoist Registry are established to oversee the monks and Daoists of the realm. Those who are well-versed in the scriptures and canonical works and pure in precepts and conduct shall be carefully selected and evaluated for appointments. Outside, under the provincial administration commissions, prefectures, departments, and districts, Prefectural Buddhist Registries, Departmental Buddhist Registries, District Buddhist Registries, and Prefectural Daoist Registries and the like shall be established respectively to manage these affairs separately.
