諱允炆。太祖之孫。懿文太子子也。洪武十年十一月己卯。懿文繼妃呂氏所生。生十年而懿文卒。時太祖年六十有五矣。是年九月庚寅。立為皇太孫。至是太祖崩即位。年二十二。靖難兵起至金川門。帝避位遜去。在位四年。

His taboo name was Yunwen. He was the grandson of Taizu and the son of Crown Prince Yiwen. He was born on the jimao day of the eleventh month in the tenth year of Hongwu [1377] to Prince Yiwen's second consort, the née Lü. Ten years after his birth, Prince Yiwen died; at that time Taizu was sixty-five years of age. In the ninth month of that year, on the gengyin day, he was established as Imperial Grandson. Upon Taizu's passing, he ascended the throne at the age of twenty-two. When the Pacifying the Distress troops reached the Jinchuan Gate, the Emperor vacated the throne and abdicated into flight. He reigned for four years.
