Wei Su, whose courtesy name was Dapu, was a native of Jinxi, known for his literary learning. At the end of the Yuan dynasty, he rose in office to academician. When the Yuan fell, he wished to throw himself into a well to die. The monk Dazi pulled him out and said, "None but you knows the national history; if you die, that is the death of the national history." Later, he remained an academician, but was banished to Hezhou.
