Initially enfeoffed as the Prince of Yan, he was later incensed by Qi [Tai] and Huang [Zicheng]'s disruption of the institutions; he raised the Pacifying the Distress troops and entered to rectify the imperial succession. He reigned for twenty-two years. On the eighteenth day of the seventh month in the gengzi year, he passed away at the age of sixty-five. He was presented with the posthumous honorific title Emperor Wen, Embodying Heaven and Broadening the Way, Lofty and Bright, Far-Reaching in Fortune, Regulating the Military with Divine Efficacy, of Pure Benevolence and Utmost Filial Piety. His temple name was Taizong; in the Jiajing era, it was changed to Chengzu. He was buried at Changling.
