爾時有一青衣。聰慧明了。從藍毘尼園。還入宮中。到白淨王所白王言。大王威德轉更增進。摩耶夫人已生太子。顏貌端正。有三十二相。八十種好。墮蓮華上自行七步。舉其右手。而師子吼。我於一切天人之中。最尊最勝。無量生死於今盡矣。此生利益一切人天。有如是等諸奇特事。非可具說。時白淨王聞彼青衣說此語已。歡喜踊躍不能自勝。即脫身瓔珞而以賜之。

At that time, there was an intelligent and perceptive maidservant who returned from the Lumbinī Grove into the palace, went to King Śuddhodana, and said to the king: "Great King, your majesty and virtue increase ever more! Queen Māyā has given birth to a prince. His facial appearance is upright, possessing the thirty-two marks and eighty minor characteristics. Falling upon a lotus flower, he walked seven steps by himself, raised his right hand, and made a lion's roar: 'Among all devas and humans, I am the most honored and most supreme. Measureless births and deaths are now ended! This birth will benefit all humans and devas.' There were such wondrous marvels that cannot be fully recounted." When King Śuddhodana heard the maidservant speak these words, he leapt for joy, unable to contain himself, and at once removed his necklace and gave it to her.
