自念祠祀來　以歷八十年
奉風水火神　日月諸山川
夙夜不懈廢　心中無他念
至竟無所獲　值佛乃安寧

"I recall that since I began sacrificial offerings,
Eighty years have passed,
Worshiping the spirits of wind, water, and fire,
The sun, the moon, and all the mountains and rivers,
Day and night unremitting,
With no other thought in mind.
Yet in the end I attained nothing;
Only upon meeting the Buddha did I find peace."
