復示阿難塔。語王言。此是阿難塔。應當供養。王曰彼有何功德。答曰此人是佛侍者。多聞第一撰集佛經。王即捨百億兩珍寶而供養其塔。時臣白王言。何故於此布施供養。皆悉勝前。王白諸臣聽吾所說。

He next showed the stupa of Ānanda and said to the king, 'This is the stupa of Ānanda; you should make offerings to it.' The king asked, 'What merit does he possess?' He answered, 'This person was the Buddha's attendant, foremost in hearing much, who compiled the Buddha's sūtras.' The king immediately gave one hundred billion ounces of rare gems to make offerings to his stupa. Then the ministers said to the king, 'Why is your giving and offering here superior to all the previous ones?' The king said to the ministers, 'Listen to what I say:
