"The Bodhisattva, dwelling here, / opened our eyes of Dharma. / Now that you depart far from us, / it is like a blind person leaving their guide; / it is also like wishing to cross the water, / but suddenly losing bridge and boat; / it is like a tender orphan child, / who has lost their loving mother. / We too are like this: / losing the place of our refuge, / we are about to drift in the stream of birth and death, / with no conditions for escape. / Throughout the long night, / we have been shot by the arrow of delusion; / having lost the great king of physicians, / who shall save us? / Lying trapped in the forest of ignorance, / sinking forever in the ocean of desire and love, / eternally cut off from the instruction of the Venerable One, / we do not see when we shall transcend it."
