At that time, after King Śuddhodana had seen Queen Māyā's auspicious signs, his joy and exaltation were beyond measure. He immediately dispatched [messengers] to invite brāhmaṇas skilled in divination and made offerings to them with wonderful incense, flowers, and various foods and drinks. When the offerings were complete, he showed them the queen's right flank, recounted the auspicious signs, and said to the brāhmaṇas: “Please divine what marvel this portends.”

The brāhmaṇas then divined it, saying: “The supreme prince borne by the Great King’s queen has good and wondrous signs that cannot be described in full. We shall now summarize them for the King. The Great King should know: the child within the queen’s womb will certainly bring glorious renown to the Śākya clan. At the time of descending into the womb, he emitted a great radiance, and devas, Śakra, and Brahmā held attendants’ insignia and surrounded him. These signs are surely portents of the Rightly Awakened One. If he does not leave the household life, he will become a wheel-turning sage king, ruling the four continents, with the seven treasures appearing of themselves and endowed with a thousand sons.”

When the king heard these words of the brāhmaṇas, he felt deeply blessed and rejoiced boundlessly. He immediately provided these brāhmaṇas with gold, silver, various jewels, elephants, horses, carriages, and villages. Queen Māyā likewise offered her palace maidens along with precious treasures.

The Ruiying benqi jing says: The king immediately inquired of the court diviners to divine her dream. The hexagram stated: “Where virtue and the Way converge, the world receives their blessing; she will certainly conceive a holy son.”

Ever since the Bodhisattva entered the womb, Queen Māyā practiced the six pāramitās more each day. Celestial foods and drinks arrived spontaneously, and she no longer delighted in human flavors. The trichiliocosm was always filled with great radiance. Even the dark and shadowy places between the worlds, where the majestic light of the sun and moon cannot shine, became completely luminous. The sentient beings within them were able to see one another and said to each other: “How is it that sentient beings have suddenly appeared here?” When the Bodhisattva descended into the womb, the trichiliocosm trembled in eighteen ways, a cool, fragrant wind arose from the four directions, all those who suffered from illness were completely healed, and greed, anger, and delusion were all stilled.
