The Mahāvaipulya Buddhāvataṃsaka Sūtra says: 'When the Bodhisattva descended his spirit from the Tuṣitabhavana, there were ten auspicious signs in this grove: first, it suddenly became vast and broad; second, earth and stone transformed into adamantine; third, precious trees stood in orderly rows; fourth, it was adorned in various ways with aloeswood and powdered incense; fifth, flower-garlands filled it completely; sixth, precious waters flowed forth; seventh, lotuses emerged from the ponds; eighth, devas, nāgas, and yakṣas stood with palms joined; ninth, devīs joined their palms in reverence; tenth, all the Buddhas of the ten directions emitted light from their navels, universally illuminating this grove and manifesting the Buddha receiving birth.'
