The Lalitavistara Sūtra states: At that time, the king reflected that the pregnancy was about to reach completion. While he was having this thought, the queen addressed the king, wishing to go to the park for an outing. He immediately ordered it to be adorned. In the Lumbinī Grove, the flowers, fruits, springs, and ponds, the railings, steps, and stairways were decorated with the seven treasures. Birds such as luan-phoenixes soared and gathered within it. Banners, canopies, musicians, incense, and flowers were fully provided. A hundred thousand precious carriages and the fourfold army guarded outside. Beautiful court ladies, eighty-four thousand in number, served the queen. In addition, eighty-four thousand maidens were selected to go to that grove ahead of time holding incense and flowers. Ministers' wives were also ordered to accompany her in attendance. At that time, the queen mounted a precious palanquin and went to the grove with her retinue. The eight classes [of beings] filling the sky likewise followed along. The Great Avataṃsaka states: The auspicious signs manifested in the grove were ten in all, up to the Buddhas of the ten directions emitting light from their navels, illuminating this grove everywhere to reveal that a Buddha was about to come.
